This one below is an eye opener even for me…..

Recently I had a Pest situation at one of my rental properties.

My tenant said he heard some noise in the attic and there seems to be rats, it seems.

Got 5 different opinions for treatment from a list of recommended contractors.

I wasn’t just calling random people, they were recommended by other agents.

Treatment cost – $700 to $3000. as everyone found remnants of the rat droppings to say it nicely – Rat poop in the attic.  Some even wanted to remove all the insulations, disinfect the whole attic which was the most expensive solution.

Another pet peeve of mine, why do contractors not include clean up when they treat attics for rats. Causes so much trouble during inspections, but I digress….

This one “gentleman” as he is one, opened the attic, looked up and heard the squeaky noise and said immediately, “That’s not a rat, that’s your wind turbine that is squeaking.”

What?????  Yup. You heard it right. There wasn’t a rat issue at all.

Were the other contractors just out to make money? I don’t think so.

However, I must say there are some people who are honest, sharp, present and attentive enough to evaluate a situation correctly.

How I love to find these people as when I do, I hold on to them, recommend them as they deserve all the support I can give them.
